Definitions
- linguistic - wudu is beauty, excellence and cleanliness
- legal - ceremonial purification obtained with water that includes the washing face, arms and feet and the wiping of the head with the palms and fingers.
- wadu - the name of the water that is used to perform wudu to remove a state of minor ritual impurity (hadath)
Importance
- Salah is fard for Salat. Salat is not valid without wudu.
- Touching the Quran without wudu is not allowed (Wajib)
- For performing Tawaf (wajib)
- A person is the state of wudu all the time is worthy of reward and elevation of rank in the hereafter - for radiance and glow on the day judgement day
- The way of wudu is specific to this ummah, but also previous ummah for e,g, Sara the wife of Ibrahim performed wudu and prayed, when she was put in a difficult situation
- protection from the whispering against the shaitan
